The Great Purging began five hundred cycles ago when a harsh winter on the northernmost continent of Vinakaru hit Sallot, Fliming, and Vigoat. This region was being used for mining stones, shards, and metal from the mountains in the area. When the weather got bad enough, the High Warden's troops pulled out, but left many slaves and workers behind for dead. The winter lasted half a cycle, and by the time it ended, the survivors had rallied under a young Bear named Reflar Benock.
When the next wave of troops, slaves, and workers came to the mines, it was a one-sided fight. Every last one of the High Warden's troops fell without even returning a scratch to their attackers. This would be the last easy battle to be had by General Benock's band for two cycles.
